Kenda
As I spend more time with myself, I see the beauty of letting my imagination flourish while being grounded. For that reason, this painting stretches the idea of what a table can be.
Kenda, meaning by myself, asks us to see our commute (the horse) as a table we spend lots of time on.
The shape of the horse resembles the long legs of Picasso‘s bull and wooden hand carved Kenyan sculptures. With the horse intentionally looking back, we are reminded of the Andikra symbol of the importance of learning from the past. In front of the horse hangs fresh caught fish for the abundance we chase during our commute.
The fragile legs of the horse reaffirms the conscious choice we make to keep going.
That is my why.
